Practicing songs that you’re passionate about is crucial to cultivating your love for music. At Music on Magnolia, piano lessons help students learn songs THEY choose, enhancing their emotional connection and increasing engagement and motivation. Allowing students to play songs they enjoy during piano lessons encourages them to refine their musical preferences and enhances self-expression, making for an overall happier musician.
Go from a bedroom musician to a gigging machine - quicker than you think. Every couple of months, we provide an opportunity for you to rehearse with your band and perform at another gig, helping you build confidence and establish your musical identity. Our instructors are trained to prepare students for the next gig, so put your doubts aside! Our performances take place at many of San Antonio's most beloved music venues, giving students a taste of what it's like to be a real gigging musician in an exciting, family-friendly environment.
In addition to the creative stuff, we cover all the basics you’d expect in a music lesson, too. Proper piano technique is essential and consistently reinforced. With a basic understanding of music theory, we’re able to quickly learn new songs and even begin to compose our own. Each piano lesson includes some routine technique and theory instruction to ensure benchmarks are being met and the student is gaining practical skills on their instrument. In addition to basic keyboard skills, our piano lessons provide opportunities to play synthesizers, too!
We love teaching adult piano lessons! If you’re a big kid that’s considering starting piano lessons, don’t think twice. You’ll love the new challenge and likely make some new friends, especially if you’re interested in playing in our gigs. You’d be placed with other adults, based on age, musical preference, and instrument choice. Forewarning; you might be encouraged to try new instruments and try new things out of your comfort zone. You’ll love it! Our Classical Path provides solo performance opportunities in beautiful recital halls if you’d prefer a more traditional piano lesson experience.
